WHO ARE WE

Ladies  of  ACK Mombasa  Memorial  Cathedral  who  have a  calling  to serve the  Lord through music.
We draw our strength from Colossians  3: 16 (“ Let  the  word  of  Christ  dwell  in you  richly  in  all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord”  )

VISION  STATEMENT

A strong bonded Cathedral Ladies with an aim of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through music.

MISSION STATEMENT

To glorify God and transform lives through music.

OBJECTIVES

To glorify Jesus Christ by allowing Him to use the Ladies Choir as an instrument by which to work through the life of each individual member to:

  • Be fully committed and faithfully attending choir practice and service.
  • Be in total communication with one another in case of unavoidable absences.
  • Be an example to the other members of Cathedral church by the testimonies of our lives.
  • Bond members together in friendship and team spirit.
  • Strive for excellence in all endeavors relating to the Music Ministry.

HISTORY / INTRODUCTION

The Ladies choir was initiated in the year 2006 as a result of one of the resolutions arrived at during a one day Seminar for all Cathedral  ladies held at the then Giriama Beach Hotel (now Milele Beach). The seminar was organized by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) with the help and support of the Sub-dean (then), Rev. Josphat Murutu, with an aim of uniting the different women groups in the church.

MEMBERSHIP

  • Membership is open to all ladies in the Cathedral who have a calling to sing and would like to serve God through  that talent
  • The Choir started off with only eight (8)  members but now the choir has grown steadily to thirty (30) members

CHOIR  PRACTICE

We have our Choir practice on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5.30pm at the Church Hall

CHOIR MASTERS

We have a choir Mistress – Mrs. Francisca Nyamai, a member of the church and a visiting choir Master, Mr. Samuel Ocholla who comes occasionally to assist us.

OFFICE

The Ladies choir have a two yearly elected office consisting of:

  • Choir  Mistress
  • Chair  Lady
  • Vice  Chair Lady
  • Secretary
  • Vice Secretary
  • Co-coordinator
  • Treasurer
  • 3 Committee  Members

To make the office run effectively we have several Patrons who support us morally, financially and spiritually.

Elections are held every two years.

ACTIVITIES

The Ladies Choir, like all other groups of the Cathedral, follow the calendar of events which has
been approved by the Parochial Church Council (PCC).  The activities include:

a) Visitation: We visit the sick, the bereaved and the needy. We fellowship with them  and encourage them.

b) Outreach: We visit other churches to spread the word of God the only way we know how music.

c) Retreat:   Ladies go to relax and exchange ideas in a selected area/place after a  long period of activity, to bond together, revitalize and focus on our goals    .

d) Monthly Prayer Meetings:  The Ladies meet to pray together once every month. {Philippians 4:6} “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”
